A formatter designs the internal layout of a manuscript (the Word document) to be able to publish it in paperback or eBook formats. This includes arranging text, setting margins, and selecting appropriate fonts. They also handle things like chapter headings, page numbers, and other visual components to make the book both readable and visually appealing.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Interior Design:

Formatters design the look and feel of a book's interior by selecting fonts, font sizes, line spacing and margins.

Page Layout:

Formatters arrange text on the pages by ensuring proper alignment, indentation, and spacing between paragraphs and lines. They also manage the page numbers, headers, and footers.

Chapter Formatting:

Formatters set up chapter headings and layout to ensure they are consistent throughout the manuscript and visually appealing.

Adding Images:

If the book includes images, the formatter will add them into the layout, ensuring proper sizing, placement, and captions.
We began adding other accompanying books at the end of our books. Our formatters add the pictures in a visually appealing way, but as a Book Team Member, we value your suggestions.

eBook Preparation:

They prepare the manuscript for various digital formats like EPUB, ensuring that the manuscript is compatible with various ebook readers. The manuscript is uploaded in PDF format to different venues like Amazon, Google Play and EncouragingBookstore.com.

Paperback Conversion:

The eBook manuscript is converted to Paperback format according to the specifications of print-on-demand services or traditional publishers.

Ensuring Readability:

The ultimate goal is to create a visually appealing and easy-to-read book, whether it's for print or digital consumption.

Adding Content to the Manuscript:

#1. We just had a Formatting BREAKTHROUGH because instead of JUST working in the “back end tunnel,” in the Google Document or OneDrive or Google Chat, FORMATTING and the AUTHOR are coming into the LIGHT, and everything will be on a webpage!!

It’s ideal for the author and for the formatter who can both find the most CURRENT updates.

#2 It began with the WMW Word Document on OneDrive.

#3 All the changes were added to the INTRO pages
https://homegrownministries.com/wmw/intro/ and added a COMMENT in the OD Word document, taking the author and formatter to the webpage.

#4 Having the INTRO on the website also gives the AUTHOR a perfect location to update the BOOK’S Introduction page that you currently see in red because it’s taken from the WM.

#5 Later, we will have ONE additional page for BACK pages— a perfect vehicle to design everything!! Then it can be moved to the Word document!
