What is a PROOFREADER?

An Author will need someone she can trust, someone who knows her, to follow behind to catch mistakes: typos, misspelled words, etc. For every book, an author relies on this position. Is this you?

S1.2 "Proofing"+ Assistant

When we began forming Team Positions, we believed Authors need a proofreader to follow after them to check for readability, notice typos, and take on a host of other important steps. Authors need someone they can trust, someone who knows them, to follow behind to catch mistakes: not just typos, but misspelled words, etc. For every book, an author relies on this position.

📣 Announcement. Due to the discovery of ChatGPT, we've now begun to do our own "proofing"—both Authors and CoAuthors, our VIP Translators.

"Proofing" is also the term for baking bread. It sits covered in a warm location to double in size, increasing its flavor, elasticity

The process of letting yeast-leavened dough rest and rise in a warm location causes it to double in size, develop flavor, and gain elasticity. The "second proofing," that's done by using Elevenlabs to create an audio chapter, strengthens the structure and prepares it for baking.

In addition, after "proofing" pasting the into WordCount.NET to keep a running total of how many pages to keep within the 200-225 page range for publication. Then the total word count for all the chapters finished is divided by 355 (average words per page), which will give the author a running total to keep within the page range for paperbacks. You will also find the reading time on the website.

Your result will look something like this:

Total Words 22 163 / 335 words per page, approximately 66 pages of 200-225 8x10  (WW 208 pages, WM 216 pages)

See this page to see how it all fits in:

PLEASE NOTE: To apply, it must be your 1st LANGUAGE.

  1. Since adding the TEST to the page, HLM to rediscover Google Forms. I sent you the answer key to correct your answers too.

  2. Thank you, Anastasia. This is purely for the proofreading in terms of it making sense and hearing if there is a problem. I don’t think we need a new video for the other languages, maybe just and additional one?

    1. If it’s true, just one additional video 🙂 I can help with the video, I Will share it soon.

  3. Yvonne, I’M EXCITED because I was able to make the book flow, and it’s written better HEARING me read it so I could rewrite it.

What I wanted to ask is, I followed your video, (which by the way— you see is ALL that’s on this page, there is a copy2 because I believe I removed TOO MUCH, sorry 😉

While trying to follow the video, I took screenshots with arrows for each step because it’s what’s easiest for me to follow. So let’s see how that works with a revised script.

When I finished, the instructions said, “download the video.” But there were missing steps, which I was able to figure it out as HLM. I’m sure this is missing because this video was intended for proofreaders, which I am not sure how and when we will implement in the process. I was excited Hope found the pronoun mistake, which I am not sure I’d have found.

  4. Yvonne, I updated the Authors’ need a proofreader on the main page and just added it here quickly for clarity—after we got an applicant to the FRA who didn’t speak French. ALSO the update to the responsibilities of the Proofreader regarding wordcount.

BE SURE that you and Hope do NOT do this everywhere since Marta’s daughter BRINCY is helping with this project, but after she gets us all caught up, THEN it’s the responsibility of the proofreader.

    1. Thank you, Erin. We will do them for new chapters and leave it to lovely Brincy to get us caught up on the old ones.

  5. Hello my dear ladies, I would like to request the Proofreader of the book WOTT OH (and in general for all revisions) to review with ChatGPT to replace the abbrebials with the full names, example HH with Heavenly Husband, etc., since at the time of converting the text to audio elevenlabs only reads the letters as H H and it is incomprehensible and confusing for the listener until they may feel irritated and will not want to listen to us again.

    1. Just a question, since the book is already formatted, won’t it be easier to do search and replace in Word instead of redoing all the formatting?

      1. I agree!! Don’t they have a find and replace in a word document?

We need to make sure this is done on all the testimony pages. I’m also guessing that you could do it in ChatGPT.

      2. Yes, you can do it in Word too. When I wrote I was just thinking about the proofreading process using ChatGPT.

          1. ABSOLUTELY, we need to ask the testimonies to flow better and get cleaned up a bit. It will help when we produce the audiobook, so that’s where it’s best to “proofread” by listening to the chapters in elevenlabs
